will gen 4 nvme work in gen 3 slot The only option in bios regarding the pci slot is to select which GEN of PCI-E slot it would work on The last drive I still  1x SSD slot , 1x SSD Combo (NVMe PCIe Gen3 1x 2280 NVMe Gen 3 slot + 1x 2280 Gen 4 ; 1x 2280 NVMe Gen  Transmission speed will vary according to different hardwaresoftware conditions, therefore the data can only use for basic reference SSD works best
